Atom announce new partnership with the National Museum of Computing on Bletchley Park

We are delighted to announce a new partnership with The National Museum of Computing at Bletchley Park. As Foundation Sponsors we will be supporting the museum in their work in the educational sector and helping to raise awareness surrounding the history and development of information technology.

As the birthplace of modern computing, Bletchley Park holds a special place in every IT geek’s heart – and we’re no different at Atom. Home to the world’s largest collection of working historic computers, The National Museum of Computing has been recognised as one of England’s “100 irreplaceable places”.

Showcasing every aspect of computing from the pioneering efforts of the 1940s through to the adoption of the personal computer (PC) and modern-day fibre connectivity, the museum is an independent charity and an important asset to the UK.

In addition to housing the Enigma, Lorenz, Turing-Welchman Bombe and a rebuilt Colossus (the Colossus as the world’s first electronic, digital computer) machines, the museum also runs learning programmes for schools and colleges, promotes introductions to computer coding for young people and works to inspire the next generation of computer scientists and engineers.

Speaking on the announcement of the new partnership between Atom and the National Museum of Computing, Atom Managing Director, Dean Cowens, said:

“It’s a real honour for Atom to be associated with an institution that not only chronicles the history of information technology but also plays a role in bringing through the next generation of technology experts. As a business working hard to help organisations harness the power of technology to drive progress and positive change, our values closely align with those of the team at the National Museum of Computing.”

Museum Director, Jacqui Garrad, comments:

“We’re thrilled to be collaborating with a forward-thinking and dynamic technology business like Atom. All of our sponsorships and partnerships are vitally important to the work we do at the National Museum of Computing and enable us to continue to conserve our working collection, engage, educate and inspire all our visitors.”
