When there’s something strange (on your computer screen) and it don’t look good, who you gonna call? Try our recently appointed Helpdesk Analyst, Thomas Patterson.
OK, so Ray Parker Junior’s lyrics may have been catchier. But IT emergencies are way more commonplace than invading ghost-based emergencies. So it’s good to know that when you’re in a tight spot there’s someone on the other end of the phone able to get you back on track.
That’s where experienced and knowledgeable helpdesk analysts like our very own Thomas Patterson come in. As one of our newest recruits, we caught up with Thomas to find out more about what makes him tick.
A North Tyneside native, Thomas began his career as an IT Infrastructure Technician, undertaking a Level 3 apprenticeship to hone his skills and give him solid foundations for a future career in information technology. Keen to develop his CV further, Thomas added several Microsoft certifications to his resume in that time, developing a deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, business processes, networking and mobile devices.
Following his apprenticeship, he has worked as an Installs Engineer for TruStack and in his first IT support role at Changing Lives – now, incidentally, an Atom client. It was in this position that Thomas really honed his skills in IT issue resolution.
So that’s his career in a nutshell. Here’s what else you might want to know about Thomas.
What do you like most about working at Atom?
The team working culture stands out here. From day one I’ve had plenty of support and collaboration to get things done. I’ve really enjoyed working with my colleagues who are without exception genuine, endearing and happy to help with an issues where I might need help with my current workload.
What’s involved in your day-to-day work at Atom?
Put simply, it’s my job to resolve the day-to-day concerns of our customers with their IT equipment. I’m at the helm of our support helpdesk day to day and it’s crucial to address concerns promptly to help customers keep their show on the road. So, quick resolution is of the essence for customer satisfaction.
Quite often it’s something pretty simple that needs a reset, like a forgotten password or access code. But we need to be equally adept at resolving issues with bespoke software or within working environments deployed for the specific needs of a customer such as Citrix.
When you’re not working hard, what are you doing?
I really enjoy the social aspects of my working life and interacting with colleagues and customers alike. Outside of work time, I love spending time with my extended family, going to the cinema and taking care of my dog – a black labradoodle miniature called Ruby. I’m also a keen video game player – World of Warcraft and Halo are my go-to games.
If you’re looking for better IT support services, why not give the team at Atom a call today.
